Beauty publications are famous for their trend watches with the 2007 hairstyle trend being at the top of the list.

That's all fine and dandy...if you're mainstream to begin with. Visitors to MyDreadlocks.com, however, are anything but as they sport dreadlocks in varying lengths, colors and thicknesses.

So how in the world do today's trends relate to you and your locks?

Two international stylists and I had a tête-à-tête about how you can carry off a 2007 hairstyle trend.

This reality TV, fashion forward stylist jet sets around the world doing celebrity styling but was able to take a minute out to give her take on 2007 hairstyle trends for what she likes to call "Earthlocs."

"I love elegance and body. And I do love curls," she said hesitatingly. That's because she's not a trend follower, but a trend setter and would rather create hair styles that aren't being seen all over the place.

"I work with who is sitting in my chair and not the trends. Everyone can't be a blonde or a redhead so I have to embrace who that person is."

Kenzo, without being cliche, is straight up zen! When you're in his chair he's all about you. In fact, there's only one chair in the entire salon.

Kenzo thinks that curly is 2007 hairstyle trend that dreadlock wearers can pull off, "Make them look curly. It takes very long but it's all about the transformation, lovely." He calls everyone "lovely."

Young ladies have already started placing brightly colored flower shop caliber flowers in their hair heading into Winter 2006/2007. Once in the spring and summer, dreadlock wearers can amplify this trend by using natural accessories from flowers or gemstone beads for the women and twine or handcrafted natural fibers (like a wool headband) for the men.
