Relaxed since I was 5 years old, I struggled with my hair identity...as do many young black girls. It wasn't until after high school that I realized that maybe my hair calling was a natural one.
My last relaxed style was the short pixie cut I had upon entering my freshman year of college. Once that grew out, I tried kinky twists (the trend of 2004). The twists were removed after 3 months and I was horrified by the way my hair looked.
It was then that I decided to cut ALL of my hair off and start over. I coiled my hair after my it grew to 2" and have been locked ever since!
